Shiseido America kicked off the year with major moves in leadership, poaching Clinique veteran Agnes Landau to fill a newly created Chief Marketing Officer role while shifting the positions of other executives. L'Oréal France also saw a reshuffle in upper management with Brucker Céline succeeding Hervé Navellou as Managing Director.Beautycounter's founder Gregg Renfrew stepped down from her role as Executive Chair and Chief Brand Officer. In a LinkedIn post, Renfrew stated: "Those who know me know I wanted to do something that would matter; something that would leave the world a bit better. Today I stand proud knowing that we made history." Renfrew founded the brand in 2013, selling it to the Carlyle Group in 2021 in a deal valued at $1 billion. In January of 2022, beauty veteran Marc Rey was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Beautycounter and set about scaling its C-suite.Ulta Beauty has tapped Michelle Crossan-Matos as its Chief Marketing Officer. In her role, she will direct loyalty, store design, consumer insights, public relations, and all integrated marketing and retail media activities. Crossan-Matos is a former marketing leader for Samsung Electronics America and has also served as CMO for Vertu as well as holding brand leadership roles at Procter & Gamble.Shiseido America appointed Agnes Landau in the newly created role of Chief Marketing Officer. Landau previously held several senior leadership positions at the Estée Lauder Companies, including a 16-year stint at Clinique.
